Our Mission
Our mission is simple: help you walk again with confidence and freedom. We provide custom prosthetics and orthotics through a full-circle approach—combining expert fitting, advanced physical therapy, nutritional counseling, and ongoing support. As Fort Myers’ only clinic with same-day solutions, we’re committed to removing barriers and making quality prosthetic care accessible, compassionate, and effective for everyone.
Our Vision
We envision a future where every amputee in Southwest Florida has access to perfectly fitted prosthetics and comprehensive care that transforms lives. Through innovation, education, and community support, we’re building a center of excellence where advanced technology meets compassionate service. Our goal: ensure no one faces amputation alone or settles for less than life-changing mobility.
Our Story
Amputee Clinic was born from a simple but powerful belief: every person deserves to walk comfortably and live independently. As Fort Myers’ only locally owned prosthetic clinic with a full on-site lab, we’ve built our reputation one patient at a time through personalized care, same-day solutions, and genuine compassion.
Our founders recognized a gap in Southwest Florida—amputees were waiting weeks or months for prosthetic fittings, traveling long distances, and often settling for devices that didn’t fit properly. We knew there had to be a better way. With over 100 years of combined clinical experience, our team established Amputee Clinic to bring expert prosthetic care directly to our community.

I am Marcum R. Randall, PT, CP, a Prosthetist and Physical Therapist with nearly 50 years of experience and owner of Amputee Clinic, Inc. in Fort Myers, Florida. I was blessed to earn a full scholarship in gymnastics to Southern Illinois University, and my early background in the trades shaped my hands-on approach to building precise, custom prosthetic devices. I am passionate about helping my patients regain mobility and independence through thoughtful design and care. Outside of my work, I enjoy staying active through regular workouts, studying the Bible, attending church, and spending meaningful time playing with my grandchildren.

Doug is a U.S. Army veteran who served as a combat medic in Vietnam in 1968 and was honorably discharged in 1972. He began his healthcare career at the VA Hospital in Seattle, where he worked as a physical therapist assistant and discovered his interest in prosthetics. Using his educational benefits, he earned a BS in Prosthetics and Orthotics from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 1978.
Doug then moved to Washington, DC, working for J.E. Hanger, where he became certified in both prosthetics and orthotics. In 1986, he founded Maryland Orthopedic Rehabilitation Services, building it over 13 years before selling it in 1999 and continuing as practice manager until 2004.
He later joined the VA system again, managing central fabrication labs in Tucson and serving as Chief of Clinical Services in Prosthetics in Albuquerque. After retiring from federal service in 2013, Doug continued part-time work in the private sector until 2017, when he joined Amputee Clinic. He retired again in 2020 during COVID and remained in Albuquerque until 2023.
Doug returned to Amputee Clinic to help prepare it for sale, and after new ownership acquired the practice in 2025, he stayed on as lead clinician

Making prosthetics was never my plan in life. I became an amputee in 2010 when I lost my foot in an electrical accident at a construction site I was working on. I tried having legs made at several different prosthetic companies but when I discovered Amputee Clinic everything just clicked. In fact things went so well that I was offered a chance to start working at Amputee Clinic in the lab building prosthetic limbs. That was 10 years ago. God sure does work in mysterious ways. With me being an amputee I am able to bridge the gap between patients & Prosthesists. It’s an honor to do this kind of work & i am so blessed.
Karl
I am a Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist with over 10 years of experience building prosthetic limbs and orthotic devices. My passion, the reason I get out of bed every morning, is to help people with limb differences regain as much mobility as they can and to live satisfying and fulfilling lives, unhindered by disability. I love taking on complex and difficult cases that have stumped other prosthetists and orthotists. I enjoy combining new technology with historical knowledge and skill to make the best possible device for my patients. I discovered the field of Prosthetics and Orthotics when my leg became temporarily paralyzed while I was 19. My neurologist ordered a custom brace and when I went to have it made I became so fascinated with the field of custom bracing and custom prosthetic devices that I decided to change my career and build them professionally. When I discovered Amputee Clinic I realized that I had found a place where I can most optimally use my creativity to help improve the lives of my patients.

Thank you amputee Clinic and God bless

This place does PT AND takes care of/orders/MAKES prosthetics!! They take a lot of time with you, offer new suggestions, (as this is DEFINITELY a learning process.)
It’s WONDERFULLY staffed, with each person with a specialty treating you like family. Karen, the office manager started us off on a good note. From there, every person has given us SO MANY good ideas with things to modify/ways to help.

Definitely took care of my Grandmothers needs! Thank you Karen!Posted on Dennis AppelTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I've had custom foot orthotics for 40+ years, through maybe 10 fitters. Doug Bourgoyne is head and shoulders above all others. I've had my orthotics for five months and they are great. My son's more complicated feet were just fitted after thorough examination. He's the best of the best!Posted on Mike HardenTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have been a patient here for over 10 years. I would not go anywhere else. They're the only place in town that has a lab and I can fix your socket in one day. I would never go anywhere else for my prosthetic leg. Thank you amputee Clinic and God blessPosted on Marlis MartinezTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
