Prosthetics in Apopka, FL

Getting prosthetic care right takes a lot more than picking something off a shelf and hoping for the best. At Amputee Clinic, we build every solution around the person sitting across from us: their goals, what their day actually looks like, their level of limb loss. Because nobody loses a limb the same way, and nobody recovers the same way either.

We handle the full scope of work here, from a first limb fitted soon after surgery to a repair on something you have leaned on for years. Custom fabrication, fitting, adjustments, repairs, and follow-up that does not quietly disappear after delivery. Our team stays hands-on with patients across Apopka and the rest of Central Florida.

What we make

Apopka Prosthetics Services

Our prosthetics work in Apopka covers everything, from a brand-new limb right after surgery to fixing a device you have counted on for a long time. Each one is made to one person’s exact measurements. And honestly, most of our attention goes straight to the socket, because that single piece decides whether the limb actually becomes part of your daily life or ends up sitting by noon.

Service 1 ↗

Prosthetic Arms

An arm takes on a hundred jobs and only you know which ones actually matter. Body-powered systems run through a cable and harness, myoelectric arms driven by muscle signal, and passive designs where appearance is the main priority.

Service 2 ↗

Prosthetic Knee

Microprocessor, hydraulic, polycentric, single-axis, weight-activated and manual locking. The priciest knee is not automatically the correct one. We choose based on how far you actually walk.

Service 3 ↗

Above The Knee Prosthetic

TThe toughest fit we handle, because a transfemoral socket has to control a short, soft limb through every step. Carbon fiber builds, seal-in, suction or elevated vacuum suspension, aligned while you walk rather than on a bench.

Service 4 ↗

Below the Knee Prosthetic

Shaped from a cast or scan of your limb, with silicone gel liners and an energy-storing foot that gives something back at push-off. Gets people moving faster than anything else we make.

Service 5 ↗

Prosthetic Foot

Energy-storing, multiaxial, articulating and microprocessor-controlled. Feet get selected poorly more often than any other component, usually because nobody watched the patient walk first.

Service 6 ↗

Partial Foot Prosthetics

Toe fillers and custom partial foot devices. They rebuild your balance, correct how shoes sit, and stop the compensating limp that starts when a foot loses its lever. Widely underused.

Service 7 ↗

Prosthetic Leg

Full lower limb prostheses from the socket outward, plus the refits, liner changes and repairs that follow. Most of our long-term patients see us for this, not for a new limb.

Prosthetic consultation

“They didn’t treat me like a patient. They treated me like family.”

WE HEAR YOU

When a socket stops fitting.

A socket that felt great the day you got it can turn uncomfortable or shaky down the road. Your residual limb changes volume with weight, activity, and time. The socket itself wears too. If your prosthetic leg or limb suddenly feels wrong, bring it in and have an experienced prosthetist in Apopka, FL take a look so we can pinpoint exactly what changed.

Watch for the usual signs of a bad fit: grabbing more prosthetic socks than you used to, feeling the limb move inside the socket as you walk, new redness or skin irritation, a wobbly feeling with each step, wearing the limb fewer hours, or just general discomfort that was not there before. If any of that rings a bell, our Apopka prosthetics team can evaluate your prosthetic socket fit and figure out whether an adjustment, modification, repair, or full replacement makes the most sense.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR OWNER

A note from the man behind
the work.

Our owner
“

Hi, I’m Marcum. For nearly 50 years I’ve had the privilege of helping people walk, stand and live again. I started out in the trades, working with my hands, before earning a full gymnastics scholarship to Southern Illinois University and training as a Physical Therapist and Prosthetist.

Every device we build at Amputee Clinic is shaped by that same hands-on care, because I believe a prosthetic should be made for one person, not made to a spec. When I’m not in the lab, you’ll find me at the gym, at church, in the Bible or chasing my grandchildren around the yard. I’d love to meet you.

Your Prosthetic Care Journey in Apopka, FL

Getting a prosthesis takes more than one appointment. From your first consultation in Apopka all the way through fitting, adjustments, gait training, and long-term rehab, we work from a personalized plan built on your mobility goals, your daily life, and your medical history. We help patients see their real options and move forward with something built around them specifically, not around some average person who does not exist.

Initial Consultation & Assessment
It starts with a personal prosthetic consultation in Apopka, FL. Our prosthetist looks at your residual limb, your current mobility, your medical background, and the real demands of your daily life to figure out the right path forward.
Precise Measurement & Scanning
Good measurements are where a comfortable, working prosthesis begins. We study your residual limb carefully and use detailed measurements along with digital scanning to nail down a socket fit that holds up through a full day of real use.
Custom Design & Fabrication
Your prosthesis gets designed around your body, never pulled from some generic template. We build custom prosthetic limbs in Apopka based on your measurements, your activity level, what you need to stay comfortable, and where you want your mobility to go, with real attention paid to the socket and everything that connects to it.
Initial Fitting & Adjustments
Once your prosthesis is ready, we check the fit closely and make adjustments before you leave the building. Our fitting work in Apopka is about comfort, stability, alignment, and how the thing performs in the real world, meaning how it moves when you move, not how it sits while you stand still.
Training & Rehabilitation
Learning to use a new prosthesis takes time and real practice. We walk you through using your prosthetic leg, arm, or foot in everyday situations, helping you build confidence with walking, balance, and movement while you adapt at whatever pace suits your body.
Ongoing Support & Follow-Up
We stay in it with you through regular follow-ups, same-day repairs when we can, ongoing adjustments, and long-term maintenance. That steady care over time is a big part of why patients across Apopka trust us with their prosthetic needs.

Why Apopka Patients Choose Amputee Clinic

For those seeking prosthetic care in Apopka, FL, we put our energy into building a supportive experience that runs from the very first conversation all the way through years of ongoing care. We spend real time learning each person’s goals, worries, and daily habits so they can make sound choices about their mobility.

Our whole approach rests on personalized care, honest communication, and long-term patient support instead of treating everyone who comes in the same way.

Prosthetics FAQs

Have Questions About Prosthetic Limbs, the Fitting Process, or Insurance Coverage?

Get answers to the most common questions patients and families ask before starting their prosthetic journey.

Why do Apopka patients choose Amputee Clinic for prosthetic care?
Apopka patients come to us because we treat prosthetic care as a long-term commitment rather than a single transaction. Every device is built to one person's exact measurements, our team handles insurance and billing in house, and we stay involved through adjustments, repairs, and home visits across Central Florida long after the fitting is done.
How long does it take to get a custom prosthesis in Apopka?
The timeline depends on the type of device you need, what your insurance requires, and how your residual limb responds during fitting. We walk every Apopka patient through realistic timeframes at the initial consultation so there are no surprises along the way.
What should I bring to my first prosthetic consultation in Apopka?
Bring any current prosthetic devices you use, a list of your medications, your insurance information, and comfortable clothing that allows access to your residual limb. It also helps to jot down your daily activities and mobility goals beforehand so we can build a clear picture of what your prosthesis needs to handle.
Does insurance cover prosthetic care in Apopka, FL?
Most major insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid, provide coverage for prosthetic devices when they are medically necessary. Coverage details vary by plan and by the type of prosthesis needed. Our team handles prior authorizations and communicates directly with insurers so you can focus on your care rather than paperwork.
How often will I need adjustments after getting a prosthesis?
It depends on the person. Residual limb volume tends to fluctuate in the months following amputation, which often means more frequent adjustments early on. Long-term patients typically come in for scheduled check-ins and as needed when something changes. We make it easy for Apopka patients to reach us when a socket starts feeling different.
Can I get same-day prosthetic repairs in Apopka?
We do our best to get you in for same-day repairs whenever we can, especially for issues that affect your ability to walk safely or comfortably. Minor repairs and adjustments are often handled during your visit without a long wait, because going without your prosthesis is not a small inconvenience and we get that.

At Amputee Clinic, we’re Fort Myers’ only prosthetic and orthotic provider with an on-site lab, offering same-day solutions when you need them most.
